Stress plays a huge role in fertility. In fact, many cases of infertility are caused by the everyday pressures you feel at work, at home, and everywhere else. To solve infertility problems, therefore, you have to alleviate stress. Research proves that there’s a strong connection between how the mind works and how the body functions. Traditional fertility treatments, such as drugs and technological interventions, may be effective when you want to solve infertility problems, but they are expensive and post high risk for negative side effects. The following might be better alternatives.

1.    Yoga. For more than 5,000 years, the practice of yoga has flourished to nourish the soul, mind, and body. Although modern yoga is light on the spiritual aspect, those who practice yoga cannot deny the psychological benefits of practicing yoga. This exercise involves asanas, or balanced physical postures, and pranayama, or breathing practices, that lead to a relaxed and meditative state of mind. You can help solve infertility problems by engaging in yoga classes regularly. They don’t have to be particularly competitive. As long as you feel the good vibes going your way, you’re good to go.

2.    Acupuncture. The most researched alternative treatment method on how to solve infertility problems is acupuncture. Much of the research has shown the effectiveness of acupuncture when combined with traditional fertility treatment methods, specifically in vitro fertilization (IVF) in increasing chances of pregnancy. According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practitioners, acupuncture works by using needles to stimulate certain points in the body where the energy of life flows. It also lessens stress and induces relaxation in patients.

3.    Meditation. Not a lot of research has yet been done on how meditation can help solve infertility problems, but it is solidly backed by a massive collection of scientific studies that prove its effectiveness in increasing relaxation and alleviating stress. There are several kinds of meditation practices. The easiest one is for the beginner to sit still and focus on a single object, such as the breath or a short mantra that is meaningful to her. Another kind of meditation is to simply let your thoughts flow without resisting them or reacting to them. You can join meditation classes or contact a meditation guru to help you get your practice started.

4.    Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This method helps solve infertility problems because it significantly reduces the anxiety and worry levels of couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Cognitive behavioral therapy works by helping partners recognize their negative thought patterns and replace them with more positive and realistic ones. Research has been done to show that CBT can actually solve infertility problems by reducing stress and anxiety levels. Other research focuses on the effectiveness of this method in treating depression and anxiety issues.

5.    Hypnosis. Contrary to what we see on media, hypnosis is not looking at a shiny object, falling asleep, and doing silly things ordered to us by a magician. It is actually a way to solve infertility problems by inducing the patient to go into a deep, sleeplike trance through relaxation. Once relaxed, a patient’s brain becomes more open to suggestions given by the hypnotist to replace the negative thoughts with more positive alternatives. Self-hypnosis can also be done with the use of programmed hypnosis audios or guided-imagery. Research shows that women who are hypnotized during embryo transfer in IVF have higher success rates than those who aren’t.
